Red Rock Canyon

Red Rock Canyon is Darren’s first
composition available exclusively through Marketing Vision Partners
written for a middle school (8th grade) band. Utilizing his love of all
forms of music, he wrote this in memory of Aldo Batista, capturing the
“musical image” of the canyon setting yet easy enough for young players
to experience and enjoy his memorable style.
Red Rock Canyon represents one of the most
beautiful features of Nevada's Landscape. The stark red canyon walls
reflect the wildness of America, while the inner canyon walls conceal a
cool refuge from the scorching sun. "I wrote the themes shortly after a
visit to Red Rock and was inspired by it's grandeur. At the same time, I
watched a beautiful young trumpet player succumb to cancer, and was awed
at his strength and dignity as each day drew him farther from the earth.
Red Rock is in honor of a timeless landscape and a timeless soul who I
will never forget."
Darren Motamedy has been a jazz artist for nearly 25 years, releasing 10
smooth jazz CD's that are played around the world. He has been writing
concert music that reflects the musical character of his concerts bands.
He recently began teaching at Walter Johnson Middle School in Las Vegas
and has penned several jazz and concert pieces for his students.
